I have lived in Powhatan all of my life and could not imagine living anywhere else. Michael and I joke that we were the only two people that knew we wanted to live and work in Powhatan so we may as well get married. Well, it worked out pretty well since we have been married for 15 years and have two great kids. William is 11 years old and would rather be hunting, fishing and farming than anything else in the world, while Charlie is 6 years old and she thinks she was put here to be in charge of the rest of us.
When I was little I would get off the bus and come to the office most afternoons and spent a lot of time playing in a tree behind the Richardson Building or underneath Mary Margaret Murphy’s desk where I could listen to everyone without being seen. I have worked here since May 1993 and then Michael and I bought the agency from Ruth and Steve in 2006. The friends we work with here at RHB are our extended family and the value on the lasting relationships we have created is immeasurable.
Being here has given me the opportunity to really be a part of the community through various charitable organizations and great county projects. The shared commitment of so many family and friends to our church, our schools and our county is the best part of being in Powhatan! |

I was born and raised in Powhatan County. I graduated from Powhatan High School in 2006 and recently moved closer to the Powhatan Courthouse area. Community involvement is something I am passionate about and over the years have been involved with the Powhatan Leadership Institute, Powhatan Anti-Litter Council, Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape, Powhatan Broadband Management Team, Powhatan’s 4th Fridays, YMCA Bright Beginnings and Powhatan Relay for Life.
I also enjoy county government which led me to become involved with the election process. Through this interest I now serve as a Chief Officer of Election for Powhatan County. The people of Powhatan really mean a lot to me.
I joined Richardson Harris Boatwright in 2008 after Michael suggested I work here to help the team out as an administrative assistant and with their computer system. Even though somedays it feels like I have 5 additional mothers, I know we are an extended family and have the same goals. I appreciate the opportunity to help our clients on a daily basis and look forward to their calls. Getting to know and being involved in the county will always be a big part of my life.

I was born in Richmond and lived in Chesterfield until the start of fifth grade. My family relocated to Cumberland and they have been there ever since. I grew up on a farm with two younger brothers and love anything involving the outdoors so I was glad we moved. I graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Management degree. While interning for the Athletic Department at CNU, I had the opportunity to dress up in the “Captain Chris” mascot costume and take pictures throughout the campus. I will always value my time and experiences at CNU.
During my senior year I had the opportunity to intern with an insurance agency. I was very interested in learning more about insurance and decided to see what career possibilities were available closer to home. During the winter of 2010 Michael and I started talking about my upcoming graduation and what I wanted to do after… and here I am. I started with RHB in June 2011 and am looking forward to all the opportunities insurance will bring.
I recently moved to Richmond and enjoy getting together with college friends as well as going back home to spend time with my family. I grew up as part of a church family and have really enjoyed getting to know the people and participating in activities at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

I grew up in an IBM (aka “I’ve Been Moved”) family spending time in Texas and Maryland as a child. If you ask me where I am from I will say, “well, I am kind of a mutt but originally…Baltimore, MD”. After graduating from Towson State University in 1992 with a B.S. in Psychology, I remained in Baltimore until 1998 when I had the opportunity to experience several wonderful college towns such as Lawrence, Kansas, Greenville, North Carolina and Baton Rouge, Louisiana! Having the chance to move and live in so many parts of the country was awesome and gave me an appreciation for all walks of life! I have been happily settled in central Virginia since 2005.
I am a mom to two beautiful daughters and enjoy cheering them on whether they are scoring a goal in soccer, tumbling on the gymnastics mats or twirling on the dance floor! I love to cook, work out, visit new places and am excited about building and decorating my first home with my significant other, Keith! We have 3 fur kids that keep us busy too!
I have been a licensed P & C agent since 2008 when I was blessed enough to join the RHB team! I love my job, helping people understand the crazy world of insurance and developing long-term relationships with my customers! Providing excellent customer service and saving my clients money keeps me coming back to work every day…along with the great team of people I work along side of!

I was raised in Chesterfield and graduated from Clover Hill High School in 1988 and Longwood College in 1992 with a degree in Business and Accounting. While at Longwood I worked for the VP of Academic Affairs and was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority. I started out in insurance during summer and Christmas breaks while in college and knew it was the career I wanted to pursue after graduation.
My husband, Jamie and I married in 1997 and built a home in Powhatan because Jamie was working in Powhatan at the time and we loved the area. I was working for an insurance agency in Richmond and grew tired of commuting back and forth to the west end. For years Michael, Amy, Jamie and I have attended the same church and eventually I started bugging them for a job so I would not have to commute. Now Jamie and I have traded as he commutes an hour to work and I stay in Powhatan.
Our daughter, Beth is almost 8 years old and loves cheerleading, gymnastics and tumbling. She is the light of our lives and keeps us very busy and entertained. We are glad we made Powhatan our home and love being involved in the community from church, to athletics, Relay for Life, Powhatan Festival of the Grape and Powhatan Coalition of Churches.

I was fortunate enough to be born in Powhatan County where I grew up and attended school with the greatest friends in the world, and which I still cherish today. I was fortunate enough to find a husband who loved Powhatan as much as I did and wanted to make this his home also. After several neat jobs, I was introduced to the folks at Richardson Insurance Agency. Getting a job here continues to be my dream job after 50 years. To say that I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, is an understatement. When I became part owner and the name changed to Richardson-Harris-Boatwright Insurance Agency, I had to almost pinch myself to make sure it was true.
This career has allowed me to become involved in the lives of so many wonderful people. My involvement with the Veterans of Powhatan has touched my heart in ways I could not have imagined. So many beautiful and talented people have joined me in recognizing these brave men and women by performing and entertaining them for a special Musical Memorial show each year.
My involvement with Relay for Life will always stand as one of the most touching and meaningful events for our County. It stands as a testimony to people needing people to enrich and support each other during their most difficult days. It has brought hope and joy to the lives it has touched.
God has been so good to me and I continue to be a part of the agency, a part of the county and a part of being involved with my grandchildren who bring me joy beyond measure.

I was born and raised in Virginia and graduated from Clover Hill High School and The Braxton School of Business. My husband, Ray and I were engaged after only knowing each other for 5 days. It was love at first sight and we have been married now for 34 years. We have a daughter, Tiffany and a son, Brandon. Both are married to wonderful people and we spend time with them often. Tiffany has given us our first grandson, Chase who brings us great joy and we love every minute with him.
I have worked in insurance since 1996 and have been with Richardson-Harris-Boatwright since May 2000. My specialty is Life and Health Insurance. While Health Insurance has been all over the news in recent years and has endured many changes, I really enjoy learning the ins and outs of each product and working with clients to enhance their knowledge and protection.
I enjoy community activities and over the years have found pleasure and meaning in working with Powhatan Relay for Life, Powhatan Festival of the Grape and Anthem’s Diaper Change Campaign just to name a few. Our community has so many great things to offer which is why I call Powhatan home.
